The Gardnerz - The System Of Nature (2011)

À primeira vista, esta banda engana. Olhando para o seu nome, ninguém ousaria dizer que estamos perante um colectivo que pratica doom/death metal com os anos 90 como pano de fundo. Em segundo lugar, o nome do álbum também não é nada comum no que concerne aos domínios do Metal. Mas, para além disso tudo está o que realmente importa: a música! 'The System Of Nature' revela uma dúzia de temas que vão buscar à derradeira década do século passado o que de melhor tinha para oferecer o doom/death de então, dando-lhe uma roupagem mais actualizada, mostrando-nos um conjunto de temas bem coesos e fortes como são exemplos 'The Art Of Suffering', o tema de abertura, ou então 'Flaw In The Axiom'; no entanto, esta estreia vale pelo seu todo, conseguindo manter as coisas sempre num nível bastante interessante, sem momentos a puxar o bocejo, embora por aqui não hajam grandes novidades ou originalidade. Antes, e como já referimos, uma renovação de uma sonoridade que marcou e teve o seu highlight há 15/20 anos.

Ao longo desta hora musical, destacamos um trabalho muito interessante de guitarra (acústica também), onde em bastantes momentos as melodias limpas, que fazem lembrar uns Ghost Brigade, cruzam-se com os riffs mais death e onde os solos, apesar de nada espampanantes, encaixam e soam muito bem.

Esta, acaba por ser uma estreia bastante auspiciosa, merecendo amplo destaque no segmento em que se movem, restando-nos aguardar por novos lançamentos que comprovem e melhorem o som desta banda. (15.2/20)

At first sight, this band deceives. Looking at the name of the band, nobody would dare to say that we are before a collective that practices doom/death metal with the 90s like backdrop. Second, the name of the album is, also, not common at all if you look in the main album titles of the Heavy Metal world. But, besides everything what really matters is the music! 'The System Of Nature' reveals a dozen of songs that go back to the last decade of last century and grab what it had better to offer from the doom/death scene, giving now a more up-to-date clothing, showing us a set of quite cohesive and strong tracks as they are examples 'The Art Of Suffering', the opening theme song, or then 'Flaw In The Axiom'; however, this debut album is worth as a whole, always managing to maintain the things in a quite interesting level, without moments to pull the yawn, though this way there are no great news or originality. First of all, as we told already, a renovation of a sonority that marked and had its highlight 15/20 years ago.

Along this musical hour, we point out a very interesting work of guitar (acoustic, also), where in several moments the clean melodies, which remember sometimes Ghost Brigade, that cross with riffs more in the line of death metal and where the solos, nothing astonishing but very sober, fit and sound very well.

This one, it is a quite auspicious debut release, deserving spacious distinction in the segment in which they are moving, remaining for us to wait for new songs that prove and improve the sound of this band. (15.2/20)
