Ab Reo Dicere: Abigail + Caricatures + Morito Ergo Sum

Abigail - The Fear Is What I Fear (EP) (2011)

English:
With a history that remounts to the decade of 80, this Rumanian band had a not easy existence at all, in which we can include a stopping period and when they were invested in sonorities far from the musical womb that marked the origin of this project.
When they returned in 2007, with the very appropriate 'New Dawn' EP that showed this new lineup with a clean head and pushing to the frontline the doom metal of the first releases, covering it with a fine skin of Gothic, reaching 2011 with one more EP, a hymn to the sounds of mid-90s, where the sadness and the roughness of doom/death metal send us for the first works of Anathema or Paradise Lost; however, it seems that the biggest flame seems to come from the masterpiece of Tiamat, ' Wildhoney '.
In abridgement, we have four balanced songs, more refined even, showing this collective in good shape, with strong melodies, interesting ideas and dynamic in the compositions.

Caricatures - Fire In The Womb (2010)

English:
'Fire In The Womb' is the presentation card for this trio from Bristol, which mixes the rough and slow sludge, so trendy during these days, with drone that is always a good choice, when applied in the proper proportion. This song, a big exercise of 30 minutes, presents us well structured and weighed as hell parts, though it shows some lack of boldness up to unstick for higher flights; however, this is a fully valid proposal, with quality inside the segment in which it is inserted, where the cohesion is well-known in the pieces of this puzzle, which are fitting quite well. Despite everything, 'Fire In The Womb' is, what we hopefully wait, the first spark of something that can set fire and scatter the very good one  who takes contact with this project. (12/20)

Morito Ergo Sum - Moonchild (EP) (2011)

English:
A curious adaptation of the celebrated sentence of René Descartes 'I think, therefore I am!', here as 'I die, therefore I am', an expression that gives name to this project born in Sweden. It is not our purpose to discuss the relevance of this designation, because what really interests are the four tracks that compose these EP.
We are speaking of doom metal where the quality cannot be denied, with something of epic sometimes, where a few pinches of gothic, also.
Based in a mighty rhythm section and in a quite sober work of guitars, we are, in general, with a good surprise that culminates in very well worked cover of 'Moonchild', from King Crimson. Riffs of quality and hooks in the right places, completely wrapped in a good production in charge of Mike Wead, taking us keeping the clear sensation that the future will smile to Morito Ergo Sum.
